The Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean is a Nationwide initiative to Keep Britain Tidy. There are 4 main guidelines to drive this message home.

1. Cut Litter – Litter blights our street and towns, our parks and beaches and costs millions to clear up each year.

2. End Waste – We waste so much. Everyday millions of things that could be reused or recycled end up being thrown away

3. Improve Public Places – Creating places for people to live and work in that they are our proud of and prosper in.

4. Educate Future Generations – Today’s young people are the key to eliminating litter and ending waste for now and for the future generations, thus involving our local youth groups such as scout, brownies etc to become involved in local initiatives is essential.

Across UK 2.3 million children get involved with the keep Britain Tidy campaign and over 540,000 took part in the action month that ran 22 March – 23 April. It still isn’t too late to get involved…visit www.keepbritaintidy.org for more details.

gave up their own time on this lovely Sunday morning.

16 willing volunteers attended this event amongst them were the District scout commissioner Ian Dale and his group from Elisabeth Road. Over 20 bags of litter were collected from around the town centre. Equipment was provided by Dudley Council.
